The Vangarde is Nick Platers (Rust), a Sydney based alternative electronic music producer. The Vangarde was originally a four piece but now Rust has gone back to his roots and is flying solo, creating huge electronic tracks and a live show fit for arenas.
Rust received added attention after winning Best Unsigned Dance/Electronica in Australia in 2007, and Best Video Artist for 'Ode To Tokyo' in 2008 and Top five for best Unsigned Dance/Electronica in 2010 at the prestigious Music Oz Awards.
The 'Vangarde' sound has various styles ranging from Bigbeat, Drum n Bass and Breakbeat in the first album 'Double Agent' (2007), to Electronica-Rock with Hip Hop vocal elements on 'Not Dead Yet (2009).
Having recently released the new EP "Transmission", Rust is set to release his biggest album yet titled "Plan B" which is due out at the end of 2011.
"...one of the most promising underground outfits to emerge from Sydney."
